Buddha's workout

Buddhas workout plan

I have started to work my apbt into an excercise program consisting of rope pulls, tug of war with the tree and pulling me on my skateboard for three blocks non stop.  You may say I'm over doing it but he absolutely loves it.  In fact today we went skating 3 times.  I have been working him out for about three weeks and I see the difference.  We slowly built up to the three blocks starting with only going up the road.  his endurance has increased and his stamina is going through the roof.  I also noticed he is much calmer and does not have all that stored up energy like before.  He also sleeps well and his muscles are starting to fill in. I waited till he made a year before I started so his bones could grow and not overwork him at a young age.  Spring poles are also another great exercise which I also incorporate into his work out. You can't beat the skateboard though so if you're a skater with a apbt pull out that skateboard and do work promise they will love it.

Still a Puppy Buddha 1 year.....

Shoulders starting to pop.

Bulcro, My New Invention.

I have come up with the ultimate dog collar for my APBT Buddha.  Happy birthday to Buddha boy who just made one year. I have come up with an idea for a dog collar have been approached by companies charging 700$ to try and get it out and manufactured.  Is there a cheaper way or another way that doesn't cost as much. It's the last collar you would ever have to buy. I will find a way to do this any help much appreciated.

Kong

Kong

Finally got Buddha a Kong dog toy. They come in red and black. Black bieng for your more aggressive chewer. I have been having problems with him chewing on everything and then eating it.  He literally eats his toys.  I been wanting to get him the black kong toy but it is a bit pricy due to the fact that I don't shop online.  It will cost you 30 dollars at petco and 8 dollars online at petco I trip. Well he got himself a red one and it is holding up ok so far.  He will end up demolishing it just not as fast.  I will let you know the progress of his chew toy  and see if the kong is worth the cost. Sorry no pictures phone is broken........

Raw Diet

Diet for dogs.

What type of food do you feed your dog?  Is it a vet. approved special dog food or your regular old Kibble and Bits? I have seen a lot of dog owners doing the raw diet deal for their dogs, Is it safe?

The raw diet is exactly like it sounds RAW.  Some good old ribs, raw with bone to chew on.
I recently gave BUddha a rib and he didn't know what to do with it but eventually his animal instincts kicked in and he slowly chewed it breaking down the bone and all.  He seems to be just fine and I am slowly going to get more raw foods into the mix. I guess its as good as it gets in the wild.  They would be hunting and scavenging for food. Making the kill and eating it raw. I don't know any dogs that know how to cook so. Well hopefully he doesn't throw up and takes to his new diet well. StayHI

APBT Is a Pittbull a real breed?

APBT or PittBull?

From my experience with different breeds of this variation of american pitt bull terrier an APBT is a pittbull and vice versa.  Its the same breed and was given the name for being a catch dog and catching rats in a pit and for fighting in a pitt. I am against dog fighting but it is nice to share history as what's done is done. As cruel as it may be you gotta give props to the old timers that put in work so that our dogs are what they are today. If not for the work of the old timers who knows how the breed would have ended up.  Give props to the dogs champs like Plumbers CH Alligator and some of the other game dogs during that generation.  Even though i like many others are against fighting it intrigues us enough to learn about it.  It is a great history of a true mans dog. He will give his life for you and do whatever it may take to make sure you are protected. They will love you till u die and thats why we must support the breed.  They went from catch dogs and fighters to show dogs support the movement keep the bloodline strong.

Bite Me

Flowerhorn Agression

Flowerhorns are known for their territorial behavior and shear aggression. I own a ZZ Red Dragon which to me seems like one of the more aggressive of the breed.  He is straight beast.  I watch youtube and see people petting their flowerhorns and holding them like a tamed fish figured I'd give it a try....big mistake.  Maybe you have to start at a early age because my flowerhorn bites and he bites hard.

I have been rescaping my tank so I figured I would give it a go.  So instead of pulling my hand out violently getting water everywhere I let him bite me. took one for the team I let him bite me thinking how bad can it be? Well the first twenty were not that bad I was like a champ.Yes I said twenty and like a dummy I just kept on letting him.  Then he started hitting the same spots over and over.  He sinks his teeth in and shakes trying to pull my skin off.  He is straight best.  I had to learn to defend myself from the attacking dragon. Fish boxing lol.

I started bumping his head against his bite so he couldn't time the bite. When he did time his bite he made sure it counted. I literally had my finger in his mouth up to my knuckle and not by choice. They do have teeth and they will use them. he actually drew blood and the outside of my right hand looks pretty messed up. I take this as a challenge and now i spar with him. Stick and move and be first. I posted a vid of my arm being sacrificed for youtube.  Check it out I just started so it will get better I promise.

He still my boy! Check u out on the FlipSide!i

Flowerhorn bites...

Budddha and Jaws

Well Buddha seems to be just fine and I am glad that is over with.  Wish I could have breed him at least once. He is so special I know his pups would have been beautiful.  In his litter there was one that came out all blue.  The way that genes skip and depending on the mother could have had some nice bluenoses running around.  Thats ok one day when the time is right I will get my kennel and fish room. Breed superdogs and animal flowerhorns.  A.P.B.T and the bulldog of the water,  my two favorites in case you haven't noticed.  Cleaned my tank and rearranged the whole thing.  I added some wood pieces and lighting.  New power head set up tomorrow.  While rearranging my tank my SRD wanted to show me how hard he can bite now that he has gotten bigger. Soooo I suffered over 75 Flowerhorn SRD bites to my right arm which did draw blood. Not only does he bite but he holds on and shakes trying to rip your skin off.  After about twenty I just got use to it.  Reminded me of blasting a tattoo. Here is a picture of day one......I endured two days of this that punk.

I got pounded Straight Bangah.

I found that he likes to be held from underneath it seems to have a calming effect on him. Had him half out the tank but then i let go, he did a 360 on me and tagged me a good one. Friggin punk. Gotta love it really makes me wanna blast another tatt. Might have to run a Tattoo fundraiser..lol

BuddhaBoi

Mission Ball Removal a Success

Buddha had his testicals removed last week and recovery went great.  They sent him home with one of those big ass plastic cones for his head poor guy was bumping into everything.  I felt bad so the cone only lasted two days.  He really wasn't trying to get at his surgical area so I figured he didn't need it.

He was such a good boy never licked that area once, it was like it never happened.  Kudos to the Vet for doing such a fantastic job and thank the lord for making it a successful surgery.  I will post their name when I edit this blog.

I myself wanted to let him put out a litter first but everyone is like oh it will calm him down and that's why he is so hyper.  Well they were all wrong because he is still hyper and still is the same dog he was just now no balls. I would have like to see him father a litter but oh well.  It would have been nice to see him breed with a shorty.....I think the line would of been tight. Oh well buddy no pups for you. DTKennels some day. I advise that people have a good reason to get their dog cut don't do it just because......I say God gave him balls who are we to take them away.

My Dog

Buudha Surgery

Sorry it's been such a hectic week didn't have to much time for blogging. as it is this is the latest happening with my pet situation. So my puppy Buddha went in for his testicles to be removed.....Not really my idea but oh well. I was looking forward to breeding him but the familia decided it best to remove his testicles and now I'm here taking care of my poor baby.  We did a fundraiser and raised just enough for Buddhas surgery. I personally thought there were a few other candidates that should of went first but oh well.  Now he has to wear that big ass cone around his head so he can't lick his balls.  I believe for stray dogs and for people who don't want puppies it is an absolute.  You never know it just takes a split second and boom hook up.  I am sad yet hopefully it will calm him down a little all though I see no such signs of this yet. I picked a boy dog so I could have one litter.  He has excellent body stucture and is has a great temperment.  Sigh.... I love my boy and it is what it is. Can't wait to get a show boy to breed.  My poor baby is never gonna get a nutt now. lol. Please don't forget to donate because the vet bill is not a joke. Over $400 total to get it done money I don't have so please donate anything will surely be well appreciated.  ughhhh my poor baby. He sleeps with me on the regular now and just doesn't seem the same.  Don't get me wrong there is certain circumstances where it best to get your dog spade or neutured just didn't want it to be Buddha.  He still my boy and I will love him more then ever...tryin to StayHI...

Dog Chow vs Raw Diet

Raw Diet for apbt

So I am going to try and put Buddha on a raw food diet.  This means raw meat and vegetables like they would eat in the wild. I am starting him slowly by giving him raws meats on saturday only to see how it goes.  Do not want him puking in my bed or have him get sick.  I hear nothing but good reviews. So I am going to give it a try, see how it goes, and I will keep you guys posted.  Buddha is 11 months old, weighs  73 lbs and he is a mix between an American bully and a Staff.  In case you missed my other pictures here is BaKiNakaBuddhaBoi........

Time to get RAW.

Unconditional Love

My Buddy Buddha

Had to get him out of the house so we took a cruise to Lanikai and had a few beers.  Well I had a few beers he just had some water and raw fish.  He was very well behaved and I was overall impressed with his behavior today.  He truly is my best friend.  He is always there whenever I need a hug.  He always makes me smile no matter how junk my day is. It is his unconditional love that makes him my angel.  Buddha u keep me sane when there is insanity, i heart u my first dog.  Well first dog that i picked and paid for unreal the love you form with an animal...it's his eyes he always gets me with those eyes.

For all you apbt haters it ain't the dog it's the owners,

KingKamfa Malau

The King

I got lucky and was able to take some really nice pictures of my King Kamfa Malau Flowerhorn tonight.  He is usually pretty shy and doesn't like to take pictures.  He will float in his corner turning away from me as if he knows I want to take a picture of him or something.  Well tonight after picking up my daughter I returned home to find him sleeping in his tank.  So I was able to get a bunch of beautiful shots of him, really showing off  his coloration and markings.  They say that you can see chinese characters in the markings and it is supposed to bring good luck.  I don't know chinese so I suppose I am out of luck.  He truly is a beautiful fish and well deserving of his name King KamfaMalau.

He has pearls for days..... By the way all those single scale markings are called pearls and are supposed to represent money and bring wealth.lol Still waiting.

King Kamfamalau....my other Flowerhorn.

KingKamfaMalau

Origin
Flowerhorn breeding dates from 1993.   Malaysians admired fish with protruding heads, known as Karoi or "warships," found in the western part of the nation. The slightly protruding forehead and long tail of these fish were prized in Taiwanese society as bringing luck in geomancy. By 1994, red devil cichlids and trimac cichlids had been imported from Central America to Malaysia and the hybrid blood parrot cichlid had been imported from Taiwan to Malaysia and bred these fish together, marking the birth of the flowerhorn.
In 1995, the blood parrots were further crossbred with the Human Face Red God of Fortune, which produced a new breed called the Five-Colors God of Fortune.  With its beautiful colors, this fish quickly became popular. Selective breeding continued through 1998, when the Seven-Colors Blue Fiery Mouth (also known as Greenish Gold Tiger) was imported from Central America, and crossbred with the Jin Gang Blood Parrot from Taiwan. This crossbreeding led to the first generation of Hua Luo Han flowerhorn hybrids, which were then followed by subsequent flowerhorn introductions.

Arrival in the West

When Luo Hans were first imported to the United States, there were only two breeds of these fish for distribution, flowerhorn and golden base.  Flowerhorns came in two varieties, those with pearls (silver-white spots on the skin) and those without. Golden bases also had two varieties, those that faded and those that did not. Among the flowerhorns, the ones without pearls were quickly overtaken in popularity by those with pearls, becoming pearl scale flowerhorns, or Zhen Zhu. With the golden bases, the unfaded ones developed an attractive golden skin in place of what had been the flowerhorn’s grey skin.

As of 1999, there were four strains of flowerhorn available in the American market: regular flowerhorns, pearl scale flowerhorns, golden flowerhorns, and faders.  Commercial breeders proliferated, and fish were selected for appearance with little regard for terminology. Consequently, names became confusing and parentage became difficult to track.
Around 2000–2001, the Kamfa variety appeared. These were hybrids of any type of flowerhorn crossed with any species of the genus Vieja or with any parrot cichlid.  These brought in some new traits, such as short mouths, wrapped tails, sunken eyes, and increasingly larger head bumps. Seeing this, those who bred the Zhen Zhus began line breeding their fish to develop faster and become more colorful, in order to compete with the Kamfa strains.

This photo was taken with a flash so his true colors come out.

Flowerhorn Care

Flowerhorn cichlids have a life span of 10–12 years. They are usually kept at a water temperature of 80–85 °F, and a pH of 7.4–8.0. They require a tank of a minimum of 55 gallons, with 125 gallons optimal. A breeding pair may require a tank of 150 gallons or more, depending on size. Being aggressive and territorial, two or more flowerhorns are usually not kept together, but the tank housing them can be divided up with acrylic dividers or egg crates.
There are several ways by which breeders distinguish between male and female flowerhorns. Generally, the males are larger than the females, but there are some exceptions. Males have the kok, or the nuchal hump, on their foreheads. Males also usually have brighter and more vivid colors. For most breeds, the females have black dots on their dorsal fins, whereas males usually have longer anal and dorsal fins. Females tend to have an orange belly, especially when ready to breed. The mouth of the male is thicker and more pronounced than the female's.
Flowerhorn cichlids are subject to several diseases, including hole-in-head disease"ich", and digestive blockages.

This Photo was taken with the tank light on he looks more of a blue color.

Heres the diagram apbt.....

APBT the truth.......But i love my bullies.

Super Red Dragon Flowerhorn

My SRD Flowerhorn.....

My next pet is my SRD or Super Red Dragon.  He is a flowerhorn and belongs to the cichlid family.  It is said that they bring good luck.  There are markings that run along the side of this fish and they call them flowers.  These markings resemble Chinese characters and are said to be lucky.  The SRD is extremely aggressive and normally should be kept alone in his own tank.  If you can get a tank big enough then you may house them with other fish that will protect themselves and are not small enough to become a meal.  The Flowerhorn is actually a man made fish created through selective breeding.  Another special thing is the fishes origin, they cannot be found in the wild and no Flowerhorn looks exactly alike. This means once you buy your Flowerhorn nobody else will have one that looks like yours.

The SRD has a big red hump on his head called a Kok. The bigger the Kok the more the fish is worth.  The colors on these fish are absolutely stunning.  I am a Flowerhorn addict and someday would like to breed them.  My SRD is housed in a 80 gal tank and his housemates include assorted cichlid that are to big to eat and to fast to get caught and killed.  The Flowerhorn will greet you every time you go near his tank and can be taught to follow your finger as you run it back and forth along the glass of his tank.  I hand feed him sometimes and he allows me to touch him and pet his body.  Sometimes however he just decides to bite me.  The Flowerhorn is like my mini Pitt Bull in a tank.  One of my favorite fish in the world.  I will get into the different breeds in my next post enjoy the photo of him for now.

Koonig Big Toy

Koonig?

This is one of the best toys for an apbt, trust me BaKiN has eatin them all. He literally will chew toys, ropes, anything he can get his mouth on, into tiny pieces and then swallow them.  The Koonig looks rather funny like three different sized rubber balls glued together with a hole through the middle.  This toy is made of extremely durable rubber and is the toughest toy I have seen yet. The hole in the middle is good for putting a treat or as I like to do putting a rope through it. Yes it is even tougher than a tire which Bakin has also shredded and swallowed. I highly recommend this toy for any large dogs that love to chew and have humungus jaw power. I will tell you how to make a apbt toy that he can play with without you and will build muscle throughout the entire body of your apbt. In a later post.  Another Top 5 the Coconut.......lol

My Dog....

BaKiN in Hawaii
My best friend and protector..... His name is BaKiN.akaBuddhaBoi.  He is part American bully with a pinch of Staff.  For those of you that don't know there are a number of different Bully or Pitt Bull breeds.  I will only get into the breeds that are in my apbt BaKiN. First off is the American Bulldog which is taller than the average bulldog or English Bulldog.  American Bulldogs can weigh as much as 155 pounds and when standing on it's hind legs be just as tall as a human.  The Staff is a shorter more compact breed of an apbt or American Pitt Bull Terrier.  The apbt should have a short forehead with big cheek or jaw muscles.  I could get into the whole origin of the apbt but we would be here forever. If I didn't get it exact I will in my next blog.  To make things short they were bred as game dogs and to fight.  I do not support dog fighting and BaKiN doesn't either. In short this is my partner for life BaKiNakaBuddhaBoi.

I will origin the apbt in my next blog dropping knowledge apbt. At least attempt to.
